“Creating change is what we do”

Adacado is built on classic design patterns with modern technologies. We have no fear in balking at accepted norms and doing something in a different way when we know our way is faster, easier, or just simply better. We believe in designing and engineering in a more opinionated and idiomatic way, and less in having too much choice that can create unneeded complexity and confusion.

Our tools are Kubernetes & Golang, Vue & ES6. Our mantra is microservices and reusable hot-swappable modularity. We are Agile – we code, test, and deploy in the same day – multiple times. If we don’t like what we did a month ago, we’ll simply throw it out and do it again – better. We realize functionalities fast and take pride in engineering great always-evolving applications with an even greater always-adaptable team. We work long and hard to get things done, and we go for coffee and beers whenever we want.

“Fail often, fail fast.”

Current Positions

Front End Developer

You have over 4 years of web application design and coding expertise, and want to do more innovative front-end development in unorthodox ways.

Adacado is looking for expert front-end developers with proven coding and UX design skills. You have the perfect balance of left and right brain, with an eye for great dynamic industrial style and the mind to implement the complex logic to drive it.  HTML/CSS/ES6 are second-nature to you, you are equally comfortable with CSS keyframes and HTML Canvas as well as Javascript asynchronous functions and DOM manipulation.

You are very adaptable, and know that there is no single way or right way to develop.  You understand that the ends are more important than the means, and the ends will forever evolve and always introduce new challenges.  You don’t hesitate to abandon code or methodology in favor of something new that better solves the current problem.  You thrive in doing something that has never been done before.

Adacado client-side applications contain most of our business rules, and you will be expected to design, implement, and maintain complicated business logic as per our architecture.  Your designs and code will be expected to effectively manage data efficacy, data versioning, and all calls to our various APIs.

As a developer at Adacado you will collaborate closely with teammates to implement and ship new features in a fast paced environment where you catch errors and deploy same-day fixes on a regular basis.  You feel a personal pride in the code that you produce and enjoy a culture of constant group learning as we exchange expertise and experience with each other. You have no problem spending time to try something and then throw it out all-together to start anew if it doesn’t fit the bill.  You understand that the best tool for the job is teamwork.

The Adacado Platform

The Adacado SAAS platform (and its roadmap) creates many interesting technical challenges.  Adacado is built on Kubernetes, Golang, Vue, and ES6, and utilizes Node, Postgres, Kafka, Aerospike, and ElasticSearch.  We manage an ever growing army of microservices (150+ unique across 300+ deployments) with special care in making our applications performant, available, and scalable.

The Adacado Team

Everyone at Adacado believes in our product, making our group close knit. We live through our trials and tribulations together (often over great Vancouver craft beer or other libations). Our staff are our most valuable resource.

We provide our team members with competitive compensation with benefits and stock options, liberal time off, flexible work hours, and a generous skills-development/education budget. All developers also receive a stand-up desk, dual monitors, and a Nerf gun (yes, a Nerf gun!).

Adacado is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, close to public transit. Everyday is casual day in the office and we provide a fully stocked kitchen with snacks. We also serve lunch hot and fresh every Friday, have regular in-office craft beer and wine parties, and bi-annual company retreats.

Location

This role is based in our Vancouver office and applicants must be eligible to work in Canada. Remote applicants WILL NOT be considered.

Tell us why you are the right person for the job - cover letter required.

Future Positions

Developers (Entry-Level)

You are finishing your Bachelor’s degree or coding bootcamp and ready to embark on your coding career.

Adacado is looking for potential developers that are willing to work hard and are hungry to learn. You will have at least a basic fundamental knowledge of programming but a passion for coding and building applications – with one or two personal projects that feed your zeal.

We will mentor you and provide you with all the resources and materials to help you become a capable programmer, along whichever developer path you choose (FE or BE). You will be exposed to Adacado’s best practices and all processes Agile. Your energy and progress will determine how long it takes you to evolve into a Junior Developer.

Developers (Junior)

You have 6-18 months coding experience and are ready for deeper involvement with projects and dev teams.

Adacado is looking for junior developers that are willing to work hard and hone their developer tradecraft. You want to take your technical knowledge to the next level and want to explore full-stack development vs specialization.

You will have the opportunity to really dig into some of the technologies we use – the faster you learn the sooner you’ll be able to help us experiment and innovate.

Developers (Intermediate)

You have 3+ years programming (either front-end ES6/CSS or back-end Golang) experience and want to work in a fast paced environment with more responsibilities.

Adacado is looking for programmers to enrich our development skill pool and help take our application to the next level, innovatively and technically. You will take part in making technical designs in line with our architecture, all the while coaching and working with juniors and interns. You will own and realize the functionalities you designed, from end to end and deliver them to production, within the requirements of our technical architecture.

The Adacado SAAS platform (and its roadmap) creates many interesting technical challenges. Adacado is built on Kubernetes, Golang, Vue, and ES6, and utilizes Node, Postgres, Kafka, Aerospike, and ElasticSearch. Developers (Senior)

You have over 5 years of coding and web application expertise in a senior role, and want to do more innovative development and less mundane operations support.

Adacado is looking for expert FE and BE programmers (ES6/CSS or Golang) to enrich our development skill pool and help take our application to the next level, innovatively and technically. You’re the type of developer that is never satisfied. You strive to create new technologies/design patterns, and/or completely abandon current systems and undertake complete re-builds, using all the latest technology. You thrive in doing something that has never been done before.

Developer/Coach (Senior)

You have over 5 years of programming experience in a senior role, love to design and code, but now want to become a developer advocate and mentor a great group of developers who themselves are mentoring other go getters within the team.

Adacado is looking for expert programmers (ES6/CSS or Golang) to enrich our development skill pool while also imparting hard-won knowledge and experience to the rest of the team. You will help us design, implement, maintain, and sunset technical projects and help us avoid pitfalls you’ve dealt with in your many past projects. You believe wholeheartedly in the Agile manifesto, CI/CD and want to make that your success.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, with a perfect grasp of English and a demonstrated ability to articulate themselves. You will advocate the growth and evolution of our developers, and support developer education. You will lead and teach by example – you take pride in writing exceptional, easy-to-read, pure functional code.
